Dear Parents
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that I have formally assumed charge as Director, Jeevana, School. Let me share my brief background:
I had the privilege of studying in Lawrence School, Lovedale and then in Vikaasa school. I completed my bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Annamalai university in 1984 and headed to the US. I completed my Ph.D in Polymer science in 1990, from the University of Akron, Ohio, considered to be amongst the top 3 universities in this field in the US. After a brief stint at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, MD, as an Applications Specialist, I returned to India in 1992 and joined National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore as a ‘Fellow’. I worked for 30 years and retired as Chief Scientist and Head of the Advanced Composites Division. In this time, my division made noteworthy contributions, especially to the prestigious Ligh Aircraft Combat (LCA) programme. My brief cv is available in the website for those interested. Over the past few years, in my spare time, I have spent lot of time with my father and understood the nuances of running a school. The privilege of having studied in very good schools has been extremely beneficial in this journey. One of the ways to ensure growth is ‘self-evaluation’. We have introduced comprehensive evaluation of our education system by students and this has provided valuable inputs to our teachers. Furthermore, we are now sending a simple questionnaire to parents to understand the issues and challenges you may be facing. As you are aware, we have wonderful tools like’ Mindspark’ to make learning an interesting journey. We have introduced the ‘digital diary’ through Chennai campus which I am sure most parents find very useful. This is also one of our ‘go green’ initiatives. We have also revamped our Library and do hope that our children will become lifelong readers.
I am also extremely happy to inform you all that our school has entered its’ 40th year! It has been an incredible journey and the achievements have been possible due to the great kids, teachers, staff and cooperation from parents. As we continue in our journey, we shall always ‘Strive to Excel’. Our philosophy will continue to focus on providing holistic education; development of mind, body and soul. We hope that the education we provide will be the foundation for our students to become honest and outstanding citizens of the world.
