Dear Teachers and Parents,

As I take on the role of Chairman, I do so with a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to carry forward the vision and values with which my father founded the School.

My father founded the School in 1984 with a vision of creating an institution where children would not only receive a good education but would also grow into confident, responsible and compassionate individuals. For more than four decades he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the School, its children, teachers and families. The School was a very important part of his life and his values and vision have shaped its journey from the very beginning.

I had the privilege of studying at Lawrence School, Lovedale, and later at Vikaasa School. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Annamalai University in 1984 and then moved to the United States, where I completed my Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Akron, Ohio, in 1990. After a brief stint with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, Maryland, as an Applications Specialist, I returned to India in 1992 and joined the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore, as a Fellow. I spent the next 30 years at NAL and retired as Chief Scientist and Head of the Advanced Composites Division. During this period, my division made significant contributions to several important programmes, including the prestigious Light Combat Aircraft(LCA)Tejas programme. A brief profile of my professional journey is available on the School website for those interested.

I have had the privilege of being associated with the School for many years, initially in an informal capacity and since 2022, as its Director. During this time, I had the opportunity to work closely with my father and understand his approach to education and the values he held dear.

His passing has left a great void, both personally and within our School community. At the same time, it has strengthened my resolve to carry forward the institution he built with so much dedication and care. As I take on this responsibility, my commitment is to preserve the values and traditions on which the School was founded, while also ensuring that we continue to learn, adapt and grow with the changing needs of our children and the world around them.

We are fortunate to have an excellent and dedicated team of teachers, led by our Principal, who share a strong commitment to the education and well-being of our children. Their experience, enthusiasm and care are among the greatest strengths of our School. I am confident that, by working together, we can continue to provide our children with an environment where they are encouraged to learn, explore, think independently and grow into responsible and caring individuals.

A School is built not only by its leadership, but by the collective efforts of its teachers, staff, students and parents. I therefore look forward to your continued trust, support and partnership as we take the School forward together.

It is an honour to carry forward my father’s legacy. I hope that together with our teachers, staff, students and parents, we can build on the strong foundation he created and continue to make the School a place where every child feels valued, encouraged and inspired to do his or her best.

Dr. Ramesh Sundaram
